Follow the Dots: Building Chords with Chordii+
How to Build Chords Using the Chord Finder (Top Right Corner of Chordii+)
This little chart in the top-right corner is your shortcut to building chords in any key — no theory memorization required.

Here’s how it works:
  • The solid black circle = your starting note (the root of the chord).
  • The numbers and arrows (like ● → 2 → 2) show you how many notes (or circles) to move forward in the current key to find the other chord tones.
  • Just follow the notes from left to right and use the chart to build any chord.
Step-by-Step Chord Examples
Let’s say the wheel is set to the Key of C. Your notes across the center window will be:
 C – D – E – F – G – A – B

1. D minor (the 2 chord in C)
Formula: ● → 2 → 2
  • Step 1: Start on D
  • Step 2: Move 2 notes forward → F
  • Step 3: Move 2 more → A
D–F–A = D minor

2. G major (the 5 chord in C)
Formula: ● → 2 → 2
  • Step 1: Start on G
  • Step 2: Move 2 notes → B
  • Step 3: Move 2 more → D
G–B–D = G major

3. Gsus2 (suspended 2 chord)
Formula: ● → 1 → 3
  • Step 1: Start on G
  • Step 2: Move 1 note → A
  • Step 3: Move 3 more → D
G–A–D = Gsus2

4. Cadd9 (add nine chord)
Formula: ● → 2 → 2 → 4
  • Step 1: Start on C
  • Step 2: Move 2 notes → E
  • Step 3: Move 2 more → G
  • Step 4: Move 4 more → D
C–E–G–D = Cadd9

5. Cmaj7 (major seven chord)
Formula: ● → 2 → 2 → 2
  • Step 1: Start on C
  • Step 2: Move 2 notes → E
  • Step 3: Move 2 more → G
  • Step 4: Move 2 more → B
C–E–G–B = Cmaj7

Why It Works:
This system is built on the notes in the key you’re in — not half-steps, formulas, or fretboard math. You just follow the dots and count forward.
That means less thinking, more creating.
It’s not about memorizing more. It’s about staying in motion — writing, playing, and creating without getting stuck in your head.
